Woodland Mews Golf Society was formed in the summer of 2008 to arrange a long weekend to the Algarve for its four founding members.
They continued their golfing exploits in the UK in small one events throughout 2008. In 2009 their friends, family and work colleagues started joining in too eager to take advantage of playing on different courses for society rate green fees.
By the middle of 2009 the first Order of Merit season was set up to run from July 2009 to August 2010 which attracted new members at almost every event. Included in the fixture list were two events that it is hoped will run every year.
May 2010 saw the first ever Mayday Matchplay event. The Woodland Mews Golf Society version of the Ryder Cup.
June 2010 saw the inaugral "Rainbow Scramble" an event to raise money for The Rainbows Trust Childrens Hospice. Woodland Mews Golf Societies official charity.
In June 2010 the society became so large that a committee was set up to handle fixtures, finances, website, handicaps and memberships. The website was relaunched using the current format.
An offical handbook was drawn up by the committee and issued to members each season.
